In 1999 the Group managed to raise over £22,000 to purchase a caravan which could be used by carers and their families to have a short break - for a week or a weekend - to recharge their batteries. The caravan is located within Seton Sands Holiday Village in the heart of East Lothian's beautiful countryside and is only two minutes from the beach. Members who are interested in booking a holiday in the caravan should contact us for a printed copy of the full terms and conditions, and a booking form, but below are the answers to some of the questions you may have.
- Individuals who have been members of the group for at least six months (priority will be given to members who have an active involvement in the group).
- Only those listed on the booking form may stay in the caravan
- The caravan will not be let to, and may not be used by, parties of young people under the age of 21.
- If several eligible members apply to use the caravan in the same week, the decision will be made by drawing members' names from a hat.
- Holiday weekends and Glasgow Fair holidays will not be allocated to the same members annually.
- Other organisations within the HIV/AIDS field may let the caravan at the discretion of the Carers Group.
- The group reserves the right to refuse any group and/or member use of the caravan, particularly where failure to observe the conditions during previous breaks is known to the group. (Back to top)
The caravan is an eight-berth, which means that up to 8 people can stay at any one time. The caravan has a total of 3 bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, WC and separate shower room and is centrally heated. (Back to top)

- FunWorks Passes to enter all the site's facilities
- Personal insurance for loss or theft or personal injury
- Cleaning
- Central Heating costs, for which a small charge is made
A holding deposit is required and will be refunded to you at the END of your holiday, once the caravan has been inspected to ensure no loss or damage has resulted. This has become necessary as a large number of items have been stolen from the caravan, as well as a substantial amount of damage to the caravan over the last few years. The cost of your holiday must be paid for no later than 8 weeks before the holiday is due to start. This date will be stated on your booking form, and no reminder will be sent. Payments not received by the due date will result in the cancellation of your holiday, and no refund or compensation will be paid. (Back to top)
- Our caravan contains cooking items, crockery and cutlery
- A small supply of bed linen is provided, although you may want to bring your own towels and bed linen
- Cots may be hired from the holiday park, and you should enquire at the reception area before you confirm your booking. (Back to top)
Are there facilities for people with disabilities?
We strongly recommend that you contact the park directly should you require disabled facilities. The caravan has 4 steps and may not be suitable for wheelchair access. (Back to top)
We do not allow pets other than in special circumstances (permission must be obtained prior to booking). Where permission is granted a fee of £20 per week may be charged. Please refer to our full terms and conditions (available on request) for more information about pets. (Back to top)
Should you wish to cancel your booking you must notify us as soon as possible and confirm your cancellation in writing. We are unable to cancel your holiday until written notification of cancellation is received. If at least 2 weeks notice is not provided and/or written notification of cancellation is not received before your holiday is due to begin, no refund will be given. (Back to top)
What happens if the group needs to cancel?
We shall do our best not to cancel your holiday. Should this situation arise we shall inform you as soon as the situation is known to us. We shall in return offer you the following:
