HIV-AIDS Crusaid Walk for Life
As you all know HIV-AIDS Carers has been taking part in this event for the last 2 years. With the help of 2 people from Stirling Drugs Projects, and one additional volunteer from our own group we went as a strong Scottish team of persons and raised nearly £800 last year.
This year thre are only 2 of us doing the walk and we need your help to raise money for HIV and AIDS. Any donation is welcomed no matter how big or small, every penny counts. Remember pennies turn into pounds.
There are several ways you can donate:

Date Set for Introduction of Car Parking Charges
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is beginning to phase in the introduction of its car parking policy. It is now confirmed that the implementation will get under way from the start of April 2007 with parking charges being introduced in 5 key locations.
The new arrangements will apply to Gartnavel General Hospital (including the West of Scotland Cancer Centre and the Homeopathic Hospital), the Western Infirmary, the Royal Hospital for Sick Children and Queen Mother's Hospital at Yorkhill, the Victoria Infirmary and HHSGGC's Dalian House headquarters.
The next phase of the policy will be rolled out later in 2007, with charges and permits being applied at other sites, including the Southern General Hospital and Stobhill.
Patient and Visitor Parking
Users of general access car parks will incur the following charges between 7.30am and 9.00pm
0-2 hours £1.00
2-3 hours £2.00
3-4 hours £3.00
4-5 hours £4.00
5-6 hours £5.00
6-7 hours £6.00
7-12 hours £12.00
A number of people are exempt from charges:
- disabled users who display a blue badge
- some people in receipt of benefits and credits (such as Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance), war pensioners receiving treatment for their pensionable disability, or people named on a valid NHS Tax Credit exemption certificate or HC2 certificate.
- motorcyclists and cyclists can park free in designated areas
- at Yorkhill, parents and guardians staying at Ronald McDonald House will be allocated a free parking bay
- parents and guardians whose children require inpatient treatment for more than 2 days will not pay full parking charges

Launch of Child Protection Helpline
From January 12th, should you have any concerns about the welfare of children, you can bring them to the attention of the Child Protection Helpline.
This new helpline, established by the Scottish Executive, will provide information to the public about what steps to take if you are concerned about a child.

Cambuslang And Rutherglen Mental Health Issues Group
A group of local service users and carers who wish to address the many issues that affect us while working together with any agency that will help improve mental health services for all. The new group which meets every last Monday of the month at 2.00pm in the Cambuslang Institute, Greenlees Road, Cambuslang. For more information call 01698 265232
Fire Safety Check
Do you have a smoke alarm? If yes, is it fitted in the right place, and does it work? When did you last check it? Does someone in your family smoke, or do you sometimes light candles in your house? Are all your electrical appliances fitted with the correct fuse? Do you use and electric blanket? Do you use a chip pan or hot oil to cook? Do you grill fatty foods?
When was the last time you thought about these things, or even how you and your family would get out of the house safely in the event of a fire?
